After three years of training in London at Cornhill (expository preaching) and Oak Hill (MA focused on NT Greek exegesis), Jony and Jenny Bertin spent four years serving in church revitalisation in Rosario, Argentina. At the same time, being well aware that ‘the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few’ (Matthew 9:37), Jony also focused during these four years on training workers in Bible handling, expository preaching and NT Greek. They were also praying daily (as part of a larger initiative) at 9:37am for the Lord of the harvest to ‘send out workers into his harvest field’ (Matthew 9:38); this will now be their main focus, having moved to Chile in February 2022.
Jony has recently been appointed Academic Director at the Anglican seminary ‘Centro de Estudios Pastorales’ (CEP), which was founded two decades ago by missionaries from Moore College, Australia. Jony is also teaching NT Greek, NT exegesis, and expository preaching. The long-term aim is to them return to Argentina to focus on training gospel workers both within the Anglican church and beyond.
Please pray:
- For Jony as he adjusts to his role as academic Director
- For good strong fellowship for the family with the CEP community, church family & Christian school.
- Their temporary resident visa has finally arrived pray that the process for getting local ID cards will be completed soon.
- For Jony & Jenny as they look ahead and start to think about the next steps towards their final aim of establishing a Cornhill/Oak Hill style seminary in Argentina.
